I went all the way to bloody England and all I have to show for it is this appearance on the famous Mad Fientist Podcast! We laughed, we cried, The Mad Fientist spilled beer on himself, and we took everything way too seriously (not really).

I discovered the financial independence community about 3 years ago because I unwilling visited on a clickbait headline that went something like this “This couple retired in their 30’s and now they travel the world.” Jeremy and Winnie at gocurrycracker.com got me started and as I’ve gone deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole I learned that there is an annual event called Chautauqua where all the crazy FI people meet up. Being a crazy person myself I decided to attend this event last August, 2017. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. So much so that my girlfriend and I will be attending this year’s Chautauqua in Greece. My pursuit of FI has spurred many interesting conversations between us and been a catalyst for brining us closer together. I can’t wait to share the experience with her this October, 2018.

Back to the podcast…we played a game that Vicki Robin invented, called Money Talks, to coincide with the re-release of Your Money or Your Life. A book that teaches readers how to take control of their lives by taking control of their finances. You could say, many do, and it’s true, that Vicki Robin and Joe Dominguez were the first to talk and write about financial independence. Pioneers. It was an absolute honor to meet Vicki and be on this podcast with her. I admit I was a little starstruck when I met her but she helped me relax and even took a pretty epic selfie with me.

Can’t help but smile.

If you want to learn more about financial independence from a group of people living the life or you just want to hear Vicki tell an embarrassing story about her earliest relationship with money check out this podcast and let me know what you think.

That’s pretty awesome that you were able to go! We hope to attend one year as well.

It’s a worthwhile experience for sure. I got way more out of it than I even expected. Great to be around like minded people.
